It has been a little over a month since I have updated this thing… I have been busy with school. I recently finished a book that was broken down in essay form but as a package was the memoir of a man’s life. Have you ever heard of David Sedaris? He is a funny… uncanny writer. I must say that in some parts I was like “whoa, what in the hell is this,” and in other parts I found myself extremely interested in this man’s eccentric life. I guess because it is so far from my own. I want to write a memoir, but I am afraid my memoir might be lacking.
The first weekend in February, I went to Dallas to visit. My parents went on vacation for a week, and I wanted to see them before they left. I had a blast in Dallas, as always. I went with some friends to Cuba Libre and to Lower Greenville, which has become a staple for any decent Dallas visit. I got to spend some time with the folks. They celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary in Hawaii over Valentine’s Day. They said they had a blast and it was beautiful weather (besides the morning rain showers… Mom wasn’t too fond of them).
The following weekend we booked a cabin up in the mountains in Ruidoso, New Mexico. Seven of us went up for the weekend to get away from Lubbock. It was a good time. My three roommates went, so it was good to spend some quality time with them. I guess that whenever you live with someone you often grow a little distant, although I do believe that roommates are a whole lot closer than friends are, or at least in my situation. It was awesome just getting away with some close friends for the weekend. We checked into the cabin on Friday afternoon and partied it up all weekend. The cabin had a hot tub. it was kind of small, but it made for a lot of fun.
Last weekend was my roommate, Kris’ birthday. Ten of us went out to dinner and then headed back over here to play some drinking games and hang out. Looking back, I am glad that we opted not to go to the bar, and instead stayed in and had a blast. Kris turned 23 years old. I cannot believe that we are all getting so old!
I joined the TECH ACTIVITES BOARD (T.A.B) on campus a few weeks back and I effin’ love it! Basically, it is a group of about 20, and we plan and promote different events that take place on campus (welcome week, speakers, comedians, and free movies). I am on a committee that is planning an After Hours Coffee House Series. I booked a couple of local people to play next Tuesday. It should be a cool atmosphere... live music and coffee and stuff. The week after that T.A.B is hosting an open-mic night. I am also heading-up a committee for a Casino Night. I am in the process of getting all of that booked. I enjoy working with this organization and it a decent resume builder.
Next weekend I am going to go back to Dallas. It has been about a month since I have been home and plus I want to see Bob Schneider in concert. He is playing on Friday, and a couple of my friends from home are going to go! I am looking forward to it! School is starting to kick my ass again.
